The annual Best of Orlando awards from the Orlando Weekly were announced yesterday and our name made the list! Although we didn’t win the reader’s choice award for ‘Best Place to Buy Meat’, the staff at Orlando Weekly chose to highlight Orlando Meats for one of their staff picks. They named us the ‘Best Hole-in-the-wall Local Meat Market’ and, well, we agree! We appreciate the love and being included on this awesome list of people and businesses feels great. Be sure to check out the full Best of Orlando 2015 issue from Orlando Weekly available in print all around the city or online.
Here’s what they had to say about us:
Orlando Meats is in the most unlikely of places. It’s a tiny hole in the wall in a bland strip mall just above Narcoosee Road on Goldenrod. It doesn’t have a huge selection, and most of what’s on sale is frozen, but (and this is a big but) it’s dedicated to selling grass-fed, locally raised beef, as well as pastured pork, chicken, goat and more, from the Florida Fresh Meat Company in Ocala. You can purchase by the piece, or order a whole butchered animal, priced by the pound. It’ll cost you more than what you pay at Publix, but if your conscience is telling you that factory-farmed meats are not just environmentally, but also ethically, unsustainable, you’ll soon find yourself forking over a few more bucks a pound for peace of mind.
Big thanks, of course, to our loyal customers who continue to support well-raised meat and patronize our business. We have big plans for the future and look forward to providing more customers with quality meats and service.
